Description of the theft
On Tuesday, September 24th, a female suspect, approximately 30-40 years old, of Latina or Native mixed descent, with distinctive cheekbones and medium-length dark hair styled in a bob with a top bun, was seen stealing a bicycle from the elementary school at 2514 S 108th St. The suspect, wearing an oversized white long-sleeve shirt or sweater and blue denim jeans, carried a styrofoam fountain drink, possibly purchased from Don and Millie’s or Speedy Mart. At 1332, she removed an 8-year-old's red Trek Pre Caliber 24-inch mountain bike with a neon green helmet from the children’s bike rack and departed northbound on 108th St, then turned right onto Castelar St, and left onto Brookside Ave, where the helmet was later found. The suspect may have proceeded to the park via the wooden bridge or continued on Brookside Ave to 105th St. This incident appears premeditated, and I urge parents to emphasize bike security measures. Given the low recovery rate of stolen bicycles, I seek public assistance and offer a reward for information leading to the recovery of the stolen bike.
