Description of the theft
I commute to work (Centennial Place - Downtown) every day with my bike. On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, I arrived at 9:25 am and left my bike at the bike rack directly outside the office building as I always do. I locked the bike with a number locker altogether with my red helmet and went to work. When I left, at 5:30 pm, the bike was not there anymore, nor was the locker. Only the helmet was left on the ground.
The bike is a Decathlon Elops Speed 900 with 7 gears - a large road bike dark grey/greenish. It has a black bell, an elastic cell phone holder, and some scratches on the back tire protector. I informed the serial number to the police and I still have the bike's receipt.
The bike was put on the Facebook Marketplace on Wednesday (July 10, 2024) afternoon.
The seller is Jamie Ryan and his address is 646 Erinwoods Dr. SE. He was willing to meet me on Thursday at 5 pm at this address. I was in contact with the police the whole time and they said they would dispatch an officer to go there and meet him. But around the time of the meeting, they called me to inform me that they were aborting the meeting because 'it was too dangerous since the guy could be violent'. I was instructed to keep maintaining contact because they were keeping the investigation going.
