Description of the theft
On Tuesday, January 27th, at exactly 11:01, my bike was stolen from outside the Panda Express on Figueroa (2828 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90007). I arrived at the restaurant shortly beforehand, locked my bike against a light pole in the grass between Panda Express and the 901 bar, and went inside. When I came out approximately 10 minutes later, I discovered my bike was gone, and a different one was lying on the ground as if thrown. I went back inside and asked the Panda Express staff for the security footage, which I currently have in my possession. The footage shows my bike locked against the pole as two individuals on bikes approach mine. The video is dark, so it is hard to tell, but after the individuals interacted with my lock/bike for about 30 seconds, my bike came free. One individual got off his bike, swapped it for mine, and left his on the ground. For reference, the individuals came southbound on Figueroa, made a left on 29th Street, took my bike, and continued riding eastbound on 29th. My bike was a Niner Rip 9. Silver in color. It had black tape wrapped around the
frame near the rear wheel. It had blm 8000
cross country 2 piston brakes and
stans quick release 29 inch wheels with non boost 6 bolt rotor hubs.
