Bicycle detail

Took the scooter into Safeway with me and had put it in-between two check out registers to grab a basket. I had it connected to an app via Bluetooth and pressed the "lock" option and proceeded to get a basket at the customer service desk. The employee then told me there were baskets at self -checkout. After grabbing a basket I came back to where I put the scooter and it was gone. Within 2 minutes TOPS it was gone. Someone had to of been watching and planning to steal it. Don't know what happened with the "lock" function? But assuming once out of Bluetooth range it just turns off (not the best solution). Please help!
