Description of the theft
On 10/3/2016, I locked my bike to a bicycle rack outside of my work building. The bike was locked using a new u-lock and cable. The u-lock was around the rear tire and frame and attached to the bike rack, and the cable lock was threaded through the front tire, around the bike rack, and back to the u-lock. There was no 'wiggle' in the u-lock. The bike was secured at 7:30am. Based on building security camera footage, at around 9:00am, an African American man approached the bike on the sidewalk, inspected the lock. He walked around the other side of the bike, and used a grinder or chop saw to cut the lock and unthreaded the cable. Sparks are visible in the security footage. By 9:05am, he departed with the bike onto Main Street. I went outside at 11:00am, and recognized the bike was gone. I reported it to the building security where they reviewed the surveillance cameras and saved images from the video feed to support this report.
